Mesa Budget continues her winning ways by grabbing another Grade A victory
AHK Mesa Mark, a superbly named dog  LOL  won his Grade J at PB for owner Jim Jackson
Winnie Bones, Seegold Big Red-USS Mardigras, a Mesa bred dog, won her Grade B at Southland
Mesa Explanation, Lonesome Cry-Mesa Cyndi, in her first offical start at PB after coming down from Lincoln, stomped a maiden field. She races for Joe Trudden's Tru Paws kennel
Mesa Doubletiger, Odd Tiger-Mesa Jessie, broke maiden at Orange Park
Mesa Expression, Lonesome Cry-Dress Up, won her Grade B to move back into top grade for owner Greg Deuel

The three Stans Boy Flyer-Karmic Destiny girls are now at Palm Beach in the Rader kennel. They'll probably official school in several weeks

Writing to you from Detroit this week. I was born here but joined the military and left on my 19th birthday.
My mom is still alive and resides in the 'burbs as do my sisters and their hubbys. And lots of lil nieces and nephews.
"Uncta Mahk" has been having Greyt fun spoiling them this week. Hard to beat spending time with family

Pups are winning; pups sold;pups for sale

Been a busy week around here. Sold the Trent Lee-Seco Ahmose litter to Jim Jackson and Rob and Kathy Cross. Best of luck to them. Breeding Trent to the Tampa Distance Classic winner was a no brainer. And many thanks to my friend Dennis Hart for allowing me to lease her for that litter and the next one too. I think Dennis and I are going to keep her next litter
I'm moving the 4 Lonesome Cry pups out of Prima Intrepid to Rod and Sue Boatright's farm after the first of the month. Intrepid's son Craig's Best by Dragon Fire schooled a 29.93 at Wheeling yesterday. That's smoking!! The rest of the Dragon Fire litter is at Hollywood and two are at DB. Very nice litter but I expect the Lonesome Crys to be even better!! They are still for sale. Don't miss out
I'm moving the Oshkosh Slammer-Dress Up pups to William Hays's farm for finishing. Two of them belong to me and the black female belongs to the Darryl Lummus family of Colorado Springs. We're hoping to repeat the success of the Lonesome Cry-Dress Up litter

Mesa Bailee and her sister Mesa Cadence, Craigie Whistler-Dainty Wag, both won their schooling races at Palm Beach today.
Mesa Explanation, Lonesome Cry-Mesa Cyndi and Mesa Discovery, two girls that had qualified at Twin River schooled for the first time today at Palm Beach. Ex qualified and Disc ran 5th. Both ran into mucho trouble. They will be very nice Hounds at the track.
As always, all of them are for sale. You guys ask me why I sell them and I keep saying the same thing: breeding is what I enjoy. The racing part is just fun for me when I can see dogs I bred winning races.
If I don't sell dogs I can't afford to continue with the quality breeding program I want.
Why? Things come up. Seco Ahmose had a vet visit and a c-section with her first litter. That's not inexpensive. Lots of things like that continue to plague the serious breeder if he is taking care of the dogs.

Gil's Nebraska, the Trent Lee-JR's Sable pup that's Mesa bred, won his Grade C at Orange Park. Looking to be an excellent litter.

Mesa Billy, Dodgem By Design-Mesa Cyndi, held on to win Grade A at NFM.
Mesa Bling Bling, Lonesome Cry-Dress Up, is getting back into the swing of things. She closed up for a nice second in B
Winnie Bones, Seegold Big Red-USS Mardigras, a Mesa bred dog, ran a strong second in Grade B at Southland
CT Road Runner, Pacific Mile-Back Taxes won Grade A by 5 1/2 "in a breeze". Back Taxes is a litter sister to Lonesome Cry and is now a Mesa brood.

Budget and Businessgal score wins

Mesa Budget, the young top grade sprinter at NFM popped the box and scored another Grade A win at NFM. This gal has lots and lots of speed. If she didn't run quite so wide she could run anywhere in the country. She is for sale and reasonably priced.
Mesa Businessgal, Lonesome Cry-Mesa Cyndi, showed that she approved of her move to BM by stalking the leaders and surging across the wire for a win.
This was Businessgal's first official start at BM and she is a maiden no longer.

Someone called me the other day about buying pups. In the process he mentioned that lots of farmers were "in trouble" and he thought he'd do some bottom fishing price wise.
I was surprised by the statement and I told him so. Then I explained to him that when money gets tight a large percentage of folks cut back.
They cut back a little on the meat, they cut back a little on the extra vitamins, they cut back a little on the quality of the dry food they feed.
The danger in all of that is that we are now fighting for our lives as a sport. Times are tough and everyone knows it.
The track kennels have their pick of top quality dogs and the ones that don't quite make it with the big boys can certainly fill plus plus plus at the second and third tiered tracks
Where does that leave the "bargain" pups? I'll tell you:the back of the pack
Buying a top quality Greyhound that will actually return your money is no different than buying a car. There is a cost involved. The breeder has fixed costs that have some variability but not by much.
When you find something priced too good to be true you'd better ask yourself a few questions.
Anything you buy just because it's cheap is a stupid buy on your part. Nobody is giving quality away.

From NFM to Southland

Mesa Budget, Oneco Spirit-Mesa Meadow, made it look easy as she went unchallenged in a box to wire effort in Grade B. This moved the young sprint star back into top grade competition
Mesa Bling Bling, Lonesome Cry-Dress Up, ran a very strong race to come in second in her Grade B event.
You might be asking yourself "why NFM?" The answer is simple: loyalty. Bill Ross and his WR kennel crew have done a Greyt job putting time into my sore and injured ones. You don't take the good ones away from people like that
Winnie Bones, Seegold Big Red-USS Mardigras, got to the turn on top and was never seriously challenged to win her Grade C at Southland. That was her 5th lifetime start. Winnie is owned by Helen and Jim Hambleton of Solomon, KS

Mesa Guide...HOT HOT HOT at Palm Beach

Mesa Guide, Trent Lee-JR's Sable, shrugged off a collision, powered into the stretch and claimed victory at the finish line for his third consecutive win.
Gil's Nebraska, litter brother to Guide, took a hard earned second place finish
Gil's Maryland, litter sister to Guide and Nebraska, also took a second at Orange Park
Mesa Expression, Lonesome Cry-Dress Up, recently moved back into Grade B at VL.
Mesa Catherine, litter sister to Expression, popped a 2nd in a TA race for owner Mike Tozzo.
Mesa Doubletiger, Odd Tiger-Mesa Jessie, took the place purse in her maiden contest at OP. This one is getting stringer each race for the Connell Kennel.

Don't forget that we have some excellent buys in both pups in training and also younger babies.

Mesa Erika, a true veteran owned by George Heise, finished 4th in Grade D at SP
Mesas Advantage, Lonesome Cry-Mesa Cyndi, scooted home for 4th despite being knocked around at the first turn. He is at VL
Mesa Bling Bling, litter sister to Advantage, had come back from injury in Grade A. Getting her feet wet again she dropped to B and then grabbed a show finisher's check
Mesa Billy, Dodgem-Mesa Cyndi, showed well in his Grade B contest
Mesa Lost Soul, Flying Penske-Mary Lee Walker, has taken to the BM oval. The little gal ran one of the best races of her career to close to 2nd in a C 3/8ths.
Mesa Catherine, litter sister to Bling and Advantage, owned by Mike Tozzo, ran 2nd twice in a row in Grade A at SOKC
